The Ford & Lincoln Lineup at the 2016 Edmonton Motor Show

Apr 06, 2016

Are you in the market for a new vehicle?  Then I highly recommend heading down to the Edmonton Auto show and checking out Fords and Lincolns display of the newly redesigned 2016 line up.   No matter if you are in the market for a luxury Continental or a rugged off road Raptor, Ford has you covered this year.  I was fortunate enough to be invited with a small group of bloggers to get a behind the scenes sneak peak of what is in store for you.  And let me tell you, you won’t be disappointed.  Here is a bit of what I learned.

LINCOLN

MKX is definitely the family car for those who want luxury with a touch of class.  Not your standard mommy sedan.  I would happily drive this car, and if you have met me you know I don’t say this about a lot of sedans.  Style, class, but still has enough attitude that you don’t feel like you are driving Grandpa’s Lincoln

Continental is definitely all about the luxury.  30 way adjustable front seats with massage!  The back passengers have adjustable seats, adjustable audio and their own climate control and they can even adjust the front passengers seat if they don’t feel they have enough room (yes you can lock that feature out so that your 4 year old don’t put mommy into the dash, I asked J).

FORD

If speed is more your thing, then check out the Focus RS, and yes RS stands for Rally sport. It is completely new to Canada.  350 horsepower and 350 foot pounds of torque, and it comes with standard drift mode. Probably not the family car you want your 16 year old learning on, but this Sweet Mama would love to drive it!  The Focus does come in other trim models at all price points making it a very economical option.  Ill be honest though I kind of got lost in my own day dreams after they told me 350 hp…….

The Fusion is definitely the family car of the ford line up.  The exterior hasn’t been touched.  Why mess with a good thing.  But Ford was listening when their customers complained about the interior, and they completely overhauled inside.  Small things like a rotary dial gear shift to clean up the consul and make more room.  The fusion comes in a multitude of options from a V6 turbo sport to a fully electric plug in engine to a traditional option.  The #powerofchoice is strong in this line up.

If trucks are more your thing then Ford won’t disappoint you in 2016.  I got to check out the F-150 Raptor.  What a beautiful vehicle if off-roading is your thing.  With 6 different modes to choose from to get the most from your off road experience and a 3.5 liter High Output 10 speed transmission and 35” All Terrain tires you won’t be disappointed.  This truck is designed to play.  But at the same time there is ample room in the cab for your car seats.

Of course I can’t forget to mention the F350 if we are discussing trucks.   Completely redesigned with military grade aluminum alloy, which freed up a lot of weight that they redistributed back into the truck to increase things like payload and towing capacity (they wouldn’t release those numbers to me, I tried to get them).  7 cameras which include front and rear bumpers, side mirrors, in the between the windshield and rear view mirror, center high mount light, and loose one to place on trailer) The best part for all of you family campers is the marriage saving Pro Park Trailer Assist.   The option of gas power or diesel (we all know diesel is the only option right?)  This truck is designed to work.

I can honestly say I was truly impressed with Fords new line up this year.  My only wish is that I could have driven the 2016 Mustang but I got to check out the simulator and race a mustang on it. So I guess that will have to do.
